Orphan Team Day One

We started the day going to Tesoros to paint.  Tesoros is a home that is being cleaned up, painted and made ready to house the children whose parents are in prison.  These children formally were in a place called Ganas which was recently closed.  This house is very nice and modern but has set empty for 2 or 3 years.  The entire group worked hard for several hours preparing to paint.  Tomorrow we will have the opportunity hopefully finish the task.

I had the opportunity to drive over to see another ministry of Inca Link, Casa Blanca and Camp Elizabeth.  These two properties are located just around the corner from Tesoros and provide housing for ministry teams.  Camp Elizabeth is a home for teenage girls.

After lunch we headed over to the orphanage to interact with the children.  This orphanage is called Maria Yoder de Campi.  We had a wonderful time playing with the children who obviously were starving for attention.  When they saw our group standing there looking at them, they immediately ran to us and began to jump in our arms.

One group had a chance to sort out some clothes that had been given to the orphanage.  We also went to the store to buy some parasite medicine and a cake for the kids.  It was a good feeling to see the joy on the kids faces as they enjoyed the cake and the stuffed animals that we had brought them.   It was difficult to leave but we assured the children that we would be back tomorrow to see them.
